The Technical Stuff

Guitars

Bob plays a 6-string concert standard guitar hand-made by luthier Marc Beneteau from St. Thomas, Ontario. Marc also built Bob's 12-string, a concert standard made to match the 6. Click on the acoustic guitar picture below to link to Marc's Website.

Luthier Ron Belanger of Orillia, Ontario has finished the custom-made resophonic guitar and it was well worth the wait. Thanks, Ron! Click on the picture of the resonator below to link to Ron's Website.

Strings

The strings Bob uses are Newtone Master Class medium lights (.012 - .052) on the 6-string and Master Class (.010 - .048) on the 12-string. On the resonator, Bob uses Michael Messer National strings (.015 - .056) also made by Newtone. These strings are kinda-sorta hand wound and use a round core instead of a hex core, which makes them last longer. The combination of Newtone strings and Beneteau and Belanger guitars is pretty hard to beat. Click on the Newtone logo below to go to their website.

Performance Notes

If there's a sound system, all we need are a vocal microphone and a DI to plug in an acoustic guitar. Bob likes to play standing up but does sometime sit (preferably on a high stool) to play some instrumentals.
